Norrey Simmons
Norrey’s career began as a policy analyst at Parliament, specialising in marketing and agribusiness. After 12 years, she left to join the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to establish the public relations function.
Norrey was a co-founder of parent company, Communications Trumps, in 1987. This company soon became one of Wellington’s leading PR and government relations companies.
In early 2002, this company merged with other business interests to establish Four Winds Communications Ltd.
Norrey leads Four Winds’ strategic planning services and has a particular interest in political, regulatory and legislative matters.
Winner of the supreme PRINZ award in 1997 for her work supporting eradication of the tussock moth in Auckland’s eastern suburbs, she has continued her interest in the agribusiness and food industries while extending her skills over the extractive industries, IT and social policy sectors.
Norrey holds university qualifications in communications, marketing and business studies. She is a past president of the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand and was elected as a PRINZ Fellow in 1996.
Norrey was, until recently, a council member of Business New Zealand, is a board member of the Employers Chamber of Commerce Central and the Kapiti Retirement Trust (operating three retirement villages).
